1.
Independence Day:
the hunters gather
for archery practice
in the woods.
2.
All her neighbors have gone off on picnics
& the like. Humming quietly, she assembles
her new privacy fence.
3.
Driving home after the rained-out fireworks,
visibility restricted to a short
cone of light on the winding road
& on either side, fireflies
rising from the fields.
Very good! The 3rd part triggered lots of memories for me.
I like the evocation of isolation, willingly embraced, in the middle of collective festivities which feel offkey.
I like the middle one especially.
These remind me of Sabian Symbols. What’s the inspiration for these?
Thanks for the comments.

Well put! I hadn’t really analyzed the connections between the three parts, but I think this nails it.
Leslee, all three were inspired by real life. No channeling was involved – or at least, no more than usual (I had to Google “Sabian Symbols”).
Bull’s-eye! I’ve been enjoying this thoroughly.
I love all of these. Their incongruity and yet their fitting-together-ness.
