Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
–Robert Frost, “A Prayer in Spring”
First day of spring —
I keep thinking about
the end of autumn.

Dead sticks
have no spring
Dave, there is certainly a strange mixture of life and death outside. I had buds coming up on my apple trees, only to be frozen over by the last couple days of snow. This time last week it was 65 F and two days later below freezing. March seems to be the month with the most difficult time at making decisions.
Maybe that’s why I identify with it! The month of facing in two directions at once (much more so than January).
Five words,
pack a punch
One for each finger, eh?
One finger raised
five times
The middle picture, and the Basho: just right.
Should’ve done that in five words, I guess:

Middle picture, Basho: just right.
Frostier than Frost, I think.
Frost springs.
Basho, not so.
Me – stick in the mud.
Me stuck
in mudless
city.
Janus in March – yes! Fantastic photos, Dave.
Teju – Why not come visit, then?
marja-leena – Thanks! Glad you like them.
That last photo with the sun ray and the twig… good work, Dave!
