fingered distances?
Colors of citron and honey,
bare floorboards.
Quiver of windchimes
set off by light rain.
Surprising how so much swims up
through this crack in the cold morning—
koi trapped in golden resin,
lifelike, like breathing.

I really like this one (and I think it would work equally well if readers didn’t know what the linked line referred to, though that was a neat link).
I know… I was just so enchanted with this artist’s process :) Besides lizards, I have a fondness for koi, and wind chimes, and pine trees…
